Show your heart some love — it's the only one you've got. Our fish oil contains 2,000 mg of healthy omega-3s that help your heart function due to a high content of the essential fatty acids EPA and DHA. Your heart will definitely feel the love with care like that.
Just like a scale, your body needs a certain ratio of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids to stay balanced. Both fats are important for optimal health, but Western diets tend to skew much higher in omega-6s. Make it your goal to increase your intake of omega-3s and get back to balance.
Healthy fat is a good thing. Your brain is 60% fat. Especially the essential fatty acid DHA constitute a large part of the brain. These fats are especially important in brain development but no matter what age you are, O3 helps maintain your brain function with high-quality omega-3s.
The fresher the fish, the better the oil. That's why we take extraordinary measures to keep our fish oil fresh from sea to bottle. We are approved by Friends of the Sea, which means we follow fishing practices that conserve the environment. The fish oil is processed and distilled on site ensuring you get a fish oil that exceeds health and safety standards.
Fish oil is oil derived from fatty fish such as anchovy, sardines, mackerel, trout, and salmon. Fish oil is a good source of two specific long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (omega-3) known as EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid). These two omega-3 fatty acids provide a wide range of health benefits.
PurePharma O3 Liquid contains fish oil derived only from the small fish anchovies and sardines. These fish are the fatty fish lowest in the food chain, meaning low accumulation of toxins. The oil is purified and concentrated to provide a high dose of EPA and DHA and no toxins.
The general recommendation is to aim for around 2-4 grams of omega-3 fatty acids preferably in the form of EPA and DHA per day. Ideally you would get this from a natural source like wild caught fish, but if you have limited access to these, you can use supplements to get the optimal dose. If you are a competing athlete, a higher daily dose may be recommended to prevent inflammation, enhance recovery, improve endurance performance. Talk to your doctor if you think you may need more.
The number one thing to look for is a clean and fresh fish oil. Avoid fish oils that have a distinct fishy smell, that indicates the oil has oxidized.
Secondly, look at how much EPA and DHA each serving provides – this is far more important than the “total fish oil” amount. The fish oil needs to be highly concentrated to get the best effects and also means a lower dose is necessary each day to get the same results. Also choose fish oils free of soy (including lecithin), dairy, wheat, rice, sweeteners or other artificial ingredients.
Finally, choose between capsules and liquid form. Omega-3 fatty acids are highly unstable and oxidize very fast. Encapsulation and dark container help preserve freshness.
It’s best to take your fish oil with meals. You can choose whether to take your daily dose all at once or divided throughout the day.
Keep your fish oil in a cool, dark place, preferably in the fridge. This is especially important if your capsules do not have a dark capsule coating or come in a translucent bottle. Omega-3s react to light, heat and oxygen and can turn rancid. Rancid fish oil, based on the smell and taste should be discarded immediately.
Triglyceride (TG) is the natural form of fats found in most foods where 3 fatty acids are bound to a glycerol backbone. When distilling and purifying the omega 3 fatty acids, part of the process is to replace this glycerol backbone with ethanol and ethyl esters (EEs) are formed. In high quality products, the omega 3 fatty acids are transferred back to a glycerol as TGs which is a costly process. Cheaper products leave the omega 3s as EEs. Fish oil in the natural TG form offers numerous advantages when compared to EE’s:higher bioavailabilityhigher omega 3 absorption rates smaller risk of oxidation Multiple countries (Australia, Denmark, Canada, Sweden and Norway) have banned the use of EE’s. Be sure that your fish oil is a triglyceride!
